A Few Common Questions

I made this blog to just address a few different very common questions I get from clients. Just kind of one of those blogs where each question wasn’t long enough for separate blogs but just quickly explain these few things!
Why is red hair color a commitment?
Red color has the largest sized molecule. So this is also why the color fades in appearance quickly. But it is also very difficult to remove the last of that large molecule so the remaining red tends to hang on more. This why stylists often warn that it can sometimes take multiple sessions to fully remove the red color.
Should I come in with dirty hair for an updo or color appointment?
It used to be a rule to come in with “dirty” hair for a color or updo appointment. Now it is honestly very confusing on what appointments you should have hair “dirty” for and what that even means. For color appointments the reason they used to say have unwashed hair was because the natural oil your scalp produces could help give some scalp protection from the lightener because the scalp is less dry. However if your hair has a lot of product and buildup the color may not properly saturate which could lead to it being uneven. If it doesn’t have a lot of product in it definitley just wait a day to wash it before the color appointment, but if there is a lot of product in your hair maybe wash it the day before. The reason that has been told for updo/formal styles is different. If hair is freshly washed it is clean and more slippery. However we can add texture products to clean hair to help it have more hold if we need to! However same as color if it isn’t very dirty or have a lot of product in it then it is ok to wait to wash it usually. However this rule does vary stylist to stylist. I just wanted to explain the reasoning behind it.
How can I help my hair grow?
Honestly there are COUNTLESS different things that claim to help hair growth. These are some of the most common go to things though that I usually give as ideas to start with when you are wanting to grow your hair more. Also I am not a doctor and results are different for everyone so that is why I list a few ideas.
Vitamins- hair, skin, and nails dummies or prenatal vitamins that have the biotin/collagen can help with hair growth.
Routine trims for maintenance can actually help with growth because it reduces breakage.
Rosemary Oil
More protein in your diet.
Use professional haircare products so you are using high quality ingrediants.
Use a routine hair mask to help maintain health.
Use a heat protection when using heat but also try to limit heat styles.
Massaging the scalp to help stimulate the hair follicles can help with growth as well.
I hope this helps answer and explain some common questions I get in the salon!
