I know everyone hears that they need to be using professional haircare for best results. A lot of people though are never properly educated as to why there is a difference between drugstore hair brands and professional. As a stylist I also am never going to shame anyone for using drugstore haircare. I just try to educate as to why there is a difference and the benefits of professional. Professional haircare lines are made with better quality ingredients to help your hair more. They have less harsh ingredients that can cause buildup on your hair like many drug store brands do. I am not saying every haircare brand at a drugstore is bad or terrible. I just am making this post to educate on my favorite professional brands that are more affordable if you are trying to take better care of your hair. The other thing to keep in mind is that drugstores are not licensed to carry most professional brands. When you see those products on shelves at a drugstore I don't recommend buying a professional line there because they are often times expired and/or diluted. The other positive to buying a professional brand product is that they are more highly concentrated so you actually can use of the product so it still will last you a little longer as well. Below are some of my favorite haircare lines that are also a more affordable and fair price range. Note these prices may vary some location to location and this is without tax but it just helps to give an idea! I also have a little of everything in here from good daily shampoo and conditioners to more targeted lines and even some curl lines.
Aluram- Aluram is a vegan professional haircare line. Usually vegan lines are more expensive but I love that Aluram is still able to keep a more fair price point. They have a daily shampoo and conditioner as well as a moisturizing if your hair is a little more dry. I personally have used both from Alarm and did like both products. The smaller shampoo and conditioner bottles are 12oz and cost $16.99 they also sell liters for $34.99. They have styling products and masks as well that are very nice and range from $16.99 to $19.99.
Healthy Sexy Hair- Healthy Sexy Hair is a line from the brand Sexy Hair. This line is a very nice hydrating and cleansing product, The shampoo and conditioner are 10.1oz for $15.95 and they have a few styling products that range from $20 to $23.
Paul Mitchell- Paul Mitchell is a pretty well known professional brand. They have several different lines are affordable and work well. A good daily shampoo is the Awapuhi shampoo which is 16.9oz for $16. This could be paired with The Conditioner (that is the name for their just regular daily conditioner) that is 16.9oz for $19.50. They also have the Instant Moisture line if you need a more hydrating shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is 10.4oz for $13 and the conditioner is 6.8oz for $14.50. Paul Mitchell also has several tea tree lines and I am going to list two next but just note these are a deeper clean so tea tree is not always reccommended for chemically treated hair. The regular tea tree shampoo and conditioner are $16.50 each for 10.1oz bottles. The also now have a very nice line which is Tea Tree Hemp restoring line. These are also cool because they are designed to be used for hair and body! The shampoo and body wash bottle is 10.1oz and $20. The conditioner and body lotion bottle is 10.1oz and $21.50. Paul Mitchell also has numerous styling lines that range from $16.50 to $22.
Matrix Keep Me Vivid- The Matrix Keep me Vivid line is targeted to help color last and especially it helps the vivid/fashion colors! This is one of my absolute favorite color last lines and it also smells so amazing too. the shampoo and conditioner come in 10.1oz for $20 or liters for $38.
Matrix Instacure- The Matrix Instacure line is a very nice repairing line. The shampoo and conditioner are 10.1oz for $22 and there are also some styling prodcuts that are $20 to $24.
Joico Joiful- The Joico Joiful is a volumnizing shampoo and condtioner that are also still not overly drying for your hair. The shampoo and conditioner are 10.1oz and $23.
Biolage Purple Shampoo- Of course I had to throw in a purple shampoo! The Biolage purple shampoo is very pigmented and is 13.5oz and costs $23.
Redken Extreme Length- The Redken Extreme Length line is a more targeted line to help grow out your hair longer an healthier. It has biotin right in the products for you! It costs $25 for the 10.1oz shampoo or condtioner bottle. They also has a sealer treatment that costs $31.
Matrix a Curl Can Dream- The Matrix a Curl Can Dream line is a very nice curly hair line that is hydrating but also lighter. It has Manuka honey in the line which not only smells amazing but is great for curls. The shampoo and Cowash are both 10.1oz and $20. They also have the curl mask that you can use in place of conditioner and that is $21. They also have styling prodcutst that cost $21.
Design Essentials Almond and Avocado- The Design Essentials Almond and Avocado lines is very nice for curls and still lightweight and smells amazing! The shampoo is $12.99 for a 12oz bottle.
