Just a Cosmetology Student...

It's something I've heard far too much... "You're only going to cosmetology school?" "Don't you want to do more with your life?" "You're going to regret not going to a real college." Going to cosmetology school is something many people consider a lesser education for some reason. I never understand why though. The beauty industry is never going to go away or be replaced by machines. People will always want to go to their favorite stylist for beauty needs. But yet many people are frowned upon when they announce they're going there for school. Im in my third week of school and I have taken 6 tests, learned how to give a facial, started learning root retouch, all over color, wet sets, and highlights. The way the schooling was just recently changed I will receive an education in what used to be 2100 hours in only 1500 hours. But yet I'm "only going to cosmetology school". I can always have a job that can pay extremely well with what I decide to use it for but I "am going to regret not going to a real college". Once I'm done with school I still have to pass a state boards exam and laws and rules exam. If I decide to move to a different state I could be required to have more schooling and will have to take their law and rules test. Statistically 10 kids will drop out of my class of 23 students. I don't know if that will happen or not however those are the drop out rates for my schooling. Cosmetology school is demanding along with everything I have been learning I completed my first project and am working on a second one... I will never understand why the beauty industry is so high demand yet people frown upon those who choose it as a career. Think about how often you go to a salon and spa. Everyone goes and enjoys the experience. They went through some tough schooling to get to where they're at. So next time someone tells you they're in beauty school don't belittle them... thank them after they give you a salon/spa service.🤗💕
